Thorong la pass trek is one of the highest trekking trail passes in the world. Located in the border of Nepal two most mountainous districts manang and mustang, which attracted thousands of tourists each year. Tourists around the world recognize this as an Annapurna circuit trek but the another popular name for this trek is Thorong la pass trek. Thorong la pass trek starts from the Ngadi or from Jagat which lies in Lamjung district and lasts for 10 to 15 days depending on your time which gives you an excellent mountains range view in Manang District.


The countless mountain and open landscape and geographical structures of manag is one of the things that you should not miss in your lifetime. Trekking to thorong la pass is the ultimate mission of the travelers who go to do Annapurna circuit trek. They do thorong la pass and enter into Mustang district, from there some of the trekkers take the flight to Pokhara and some do continuous trek to Tatopani then to Ghorepani.


Normally the thorong la pass trek starts from Nagdi 800 Meter which is flat land covered with the green hills. This is a very nice village with the colorful rice fields. Next day you start your trek from Here to Jagat 1400 Meter, You will pass the Bahundanda, Ghermu and Syange to reach the Jagat village. You can see the Ngadi peak 7,871 Meter and some other peaks. Jagat to Dharapani is another beautiful walking through the deep marshyangdi river valley, bamboo bushes and green high Hills make your tiredness fade away from you.


Tal village is the biggest village that you will cross today. Dharapani is the place where two rivers join, one comes from the Manaslu and another comes from Thorong la and tilicho lake. You can see the first view of Mt. Manaslu 8153 Meter from dharapani. As you trek more further to Chame there is a village namely Bagarchap and Timang which offers the superb view of Manaslu. Chame is the district headquarter of the Manag district as well as a very delighted place for tourists.


Numbers of shops offer you trekking gear to the food items and different tourist needs. Pharmacy is also available here, The most important thing of the chame is the Natural Hot spring. This is very good for the tourist where you can spend your evening after the long trek. The Lamjung Himal 6983 meter/ 22904 feet is totally visible from here just behind the Chame village. Pisang is the next destination for the trekkers, with the beautiful walking through the pine forest you will reach to the one and only biggest apple farm of Nepal. You may try the coffee and bakery here, which is what other tourists do here. Annapurna II 7940 Meter/ 26043 Feet mountain is Now visible from here, as you go further on you will reach Dhukur Pokhari from here, you can see Annapurna II very clearly. Depending on your taste you can either sleep in Upper Pisang or Lower pisang.


Manag is the next day hike for the trekkers but this day is the most beautiful day of your entire trek. There are numerous peaks you can see today from Ghermu and Ngawal. Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna Iv, Gangapurna, Khangsar kang, tilicho peak and many other mountains on the way to Manag. Manag is the small town where most of the tourists do accilitize, staying here they hike to Gangapurna lake or ice lake. Some people who have good strength and want to explore more go to the ice lake. Now Ice lake is one of the beautiful lakes in Manag which is elevated at the height of 4600 Meter from sea level, You need to climb 1100 meter from Manang to get the ice lake which is really good accilitization for you to prepare better for thorong la pass as well as you will see the most spectacular view of the Annapurna mountain range.


From manag you have two options, one you can go to Tilicho Lake trek the highest elevated lake in the world, if you go there then you need 3-4 Days more time to do Annapurna circuit please check our Tilicho lake trek for further ideas. We will go to yak Kharka Crossing the Gunsang village. Yak kharka is a small village located on the bank of the river. There are several Yak pastures that is why yak khara is a place name. Blue sheep are everywhere around here.


Thorong High camp is the next target for you, Now as the elevation gets higher you need to think about your health as well. You are going to climb 800 Meter from Yak kharka. It takes about 6-7 Hours to reach the high camp. If you are unable and don’t want to sleep at the High camp then there are options for you. You can sleep in Throng base camp which is elevated at 4450 Meter the difference is Next day you need to walk 1 hours earlier around 4 o’clock than the trekkers who stay at high camp.


The challenging day is today, you can see the numerous mountains around 6000 Meter to 7000 Meter very clearly , yak kawang and Thorong peak 20,152 Feet are the most highlighted one. You will see the amazing mountain while you are going to cross the Thorong la pass 17,709 Feet.

Thorong la pass in this month is really good to do due to the stunning view and perfect temperatures. The daytime temperature might be the +10 Degree Celsius on-wards when there is sunshine and early in the morning it might be – 10 degree Celsius then more.
