A Solo south Korean woman has died in the Thorong la pass trek also known as the round Annapurna trek which lies in the Manag and Mustang District. The police officer in the district where the woman died has been informed by the Manang police station. Solo trekkers died in Thorong la pass trek without a local guide and porter.
Information about the death of a Korean woman in the Thorang Pas area was received by the Manang police and the Annapurna Conservation Area Project at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The district police office in Manang was informed by the police chief, R.K. Sharma. The cause of death of the Korean woman in the Thorang Pas area is yet to be determined by the police chief.
The death of a woman in the Manang district has been reported by the head of the Manang office of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, Lekhanath Gautam. The woman died while on a trek on the Annapurna Round trekking route. The cause of death is currently unknown but it is believed to have occurred due to severe cold in that area.
On January 10, a woman named Tilicho Taal or Thorang Pass for trekking was reported to have entered the Manang district from the Base Camp of Lamjung. According to Lek, the cause of her death is not yet known but she was only 27 years old as per the record of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, whereas the police record states that she was 53 years old. He added that the work of determining her age is currently ongoing at the IP Center in Kathmandu.
Manang ACAP said that they are coordinating with relevant embassies to recover the body of the Korean woman. The head of the office, Gautam, has already informed the embassy and informed that the process of coordination with the family has been started by the embassy.
The Karian woman died 5 days after entering Manang while doing the round Annapurna trek. The body of the Korean woman is said to be kept safe in the Tisap near the high camp.
