Where to start and end Short Annapurna Circuit trek

Due to the short time frame Annapurna circuit can not be done completely but still, you can do the Annapurna circuit by skipping some days on lower sections. That is why it is a Short Annapurna circuit trek. Usually, the Annapurna circuit begins from the Ngadi village but to make it shorter we have to reduce the days by using the jeep and skipping the villages.


Start at the Chame

The trek starts from the Chame Village. Chame is a 5-6 hours Jeep ride from the Besisahar and Besisahar is 7-8 hours from Kathmandu so it takes the whole day to reach the Chame. That is the reason trekkers must start their journey to Chame early in the morning so that they can reach Chame in the Evening. Chame is a small village from where you can see the stunning view of the Lamjung Himal just in front of you. A natural hot spring is also there at Chame which you can enjoy. If you start the trek at Chame, it will be short Annapurna circuit trekking.


Ends at the Jomsom

Thorong la pass is the ultimate target of the Short Annapurna circuit trek from where you can either go to Jomsom or Muktinath. Flying from Jomsom saves the time that makes the trek shorter. The 30 minutes flight takes you to the Pokhara and on the same day, you can also fly to Kathmandu as well if you have a lack of time. If you want to continue the trek then it needs 5-6 days more to arrive at the Pokhara or driving options are also possible which takes the whole day but it takes a whole day and the road is not that good.


Permits for Short Annapurna Circuit trek

  • ACCAP permits

    ACCAP Permits are permitted to trek on the Annapurna Conservation Area project. There are several trekking trails in Annapurna Conservation Area such as Annapurna base camp, Mardi Himal trek, Khopra Trek, Mohare Danda and many others which all require to have an ACCAP permit so as the Annapurna circuit trek. The permits can be obtained from Nepal Trek Hub.

  • TIMS Permits

    Trekkers Information Management System permits are imposed by the Nepal Tourism Board for the tracking and safety of the tourist. The permit fees they collect are also going on for guide and porter rescue in case an emergency happens on the trek. In the check post they also check the TIMS permits.
