Pikey Peak Trek is a newly introduced but most beautiful trekking route in a rural part of Nepal. It is also known as the lower Everest trekking because it allows seeing all the Mountains of Everest region. The highest point of this trek is around 4000 Meter, 13,120 Feet from the sea level ie Pikey peak viewpoint which allows you to see the Everest, Choyou, Makalu and many other splendid mountains with a very perfect and close view.
The trek experience depends on the weather, if the weather is very good then you may be able to enjoy the trek at the maximum level if the sky is clear then you can see the mountain and hill as well as landscape very well. Whereas if the weather becomes bad then it will not be a good experience anymore. We recommend you to do this trek on a very good time to get the best experience. Here in Nepal, we have a different trekking season, here we have explained in what season what would be the weather, as well as temperatures, look like as well as our recommendations.
This is the best season to trek in Nepal and every trek of Nepal. The weather generally remains clear whole day. The temperature is neither cool nor hot in the countryside whereas if you go to the trekking at high altitude it is quite colder. The autumn season is best to do trek because on that time there are no chances of Rainfall and the landscape also becomes green due to plantation of different crops. You can enjoy your trekking very much; you will be delighted to visit Nepal in this season.
This is the second-best season to trek in Nepal after the autumn season. This is also known as a flower blooming season where you would see the colourful rhododendron while trekking to the Himalayas. The weather remains good only sometimes the rainfall might happen, apart from that the weather would be fine generally. Everest climbing season is spring season most of the climber get the summit of Mt. Everest in this season so it is a very good time to visit Nepal. You can do trek anywhere in Nepal with superb weather. Everest Base camp, Annapurna circuit, Manaslu circuit will be quite busier this time. We recommend you to do Pikey peak at this time.
Rainy time, definitely not a good time to visit because of poor visibility as well as continues rainfall everywhere. The flooding and landslide is a common problem at this time. Continuous rainfall means there is very less chance to see the mountain. You can not enjoy your trek on this time. There would be some leeches along the trekking trail. We don’t recommend you to do the trek on this time however there are some trekking trails which will be good to do on this time as well. Mustang trek and upper Dolpo are the treks you can also do in monsoon time.
Coldest time of the year, snowfalls in the mountain is common, cold temperatures is an obstacle for the trekkers, you can not see the good views always. If you are lucky then you can see for a short period of time. Trekking in High Altitude is not recommended on this time. Poon Hill Trek and Pikey peak trek can be done even in this time but there is no 100% guarantee that you can see the mountains.
It is very important to take the Information before you start, here is some information which might be very important for you.
Pikey peak weather depends on the time you trek over there. Since it is the lower part of the Everest, if the Everest region gets cloud it also gets the clouds. The hillsides may remain sunny but the mountainside can be blocked with clouds more often if you go there on off-season time. That is the reason we recommend you to do this trek on Autumn season and Spring season. During this time the pikey peak weather remains always good apart from some time.
You may be wondering about pikey peak trek difficulty. If so, Pikey peak is neither the challenging trek nor the difficult one. Due to its lower elevation, most of the people can do it without any difficulty. If the trekkers / Hikers can walk 5-6 hours per day then you can do it very comfortably. But the ups and downs are very common. The Highest Elevation you will gain in this trek 4065 meter, which is a viewpoint, due to lower elevation it is not that difficult to trek.
