New Updates on Restricted Area Permit Rules 2026
Manaslu Circuit Trek lies in the Restricted Area of Nepal and requires RAP permits. To trek in the Manaslu Region in the past, there must have been at least 2 trekkers, but with the mandates of the New Trekking Permit Rules 2026, solo/individual trekkers can also obtain the permits and do the Manaslu Circuit trek, which makes the Manaslu Circuit even more accessible for trekkers.
March 2026 Policy Update: Single foreign travellers can now legally obtain the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP) individually. However, independent trekking is still strictly prohibited. A licensed trekking guide hired through a registered agency like Nepal Trek Hub remains a 100% legal requirement.
1. Manaslu Circuit Trek Cost on Standard Schemes 2026/2027
The Manaslu Circuit trek cost for 2026 is $830 (for large groups) – $1,090 (for solo) per person and the price is based on a Standard 11 Nights 12 Days plan. The 11 Nights 12 Days plan is followed by almost 95% of trekkers, and some trekkers customise the Manaslu Circuit trek by extending the itinerary, which impacts the cost and increases the overall cost. Here are the cost-determining factors, and tentative costs are mentioned in the table below.
The Manaslu Circuit trek on budget schemes is much cheaper, as you pay for your food and accommodations yourself, and we only provide a guide, porter, permits and transportation service.

manaslu circuit trek cost affecting factors
Certain elements determine the cost of the Manaslu Circuit Trek. Many of you may get confused about why the costs are so different. Let’s go through each factor determining the Annapurna Circuit Trek Cost so you can plan accordingly.
Duration (days) of the trek
A standard Manaslu Circuit Trek lasts 11 nights and 12 days to complete. But the same trek can be done even in 10 nights, 11 days by eliminating the rest day in Samagaun. Also, you can add 2 Nights in Samagaun or Samdo, which makes the trip longer and the overall cost goes higher because of the Guide, porter and food and accommodation cost increases.
Group size
Trekking in a big group always has financial advantages over trekking in a small group. To trek here in Manaslu, you need to have at least 2 people, or you have to join a group. It is because of the economies of scale. The same things happen on the Manaslu Circuit Trek as well. Sharing the cost of the Guide, Porter, transportaions and even tips will be devided in to proprosnate so the cost goes significantly down. Travelling with a small number of participants increases the cost of the trek.
Transportation:
The cost to reach the trailhead at Machhakhola depends on whether you take a low-cost local bus or hire a private 4WD Jeep(shared with the trekkers), which makes the cost different.
Route Extension:
Adding the Tsum Valley side-trek requires an additional restricted area permit and extra days as well. Even in the Manaslu Circuit trek, you may add 1 or 2 days, which makes the cost of guide, porter, food and accommodations higher.
Services you take
The premium services, rather than standard increases the cost of the trek. For example, trekking without a porter and by using the Public bus makes the cost low, while taking a porter and using the private vehicle makes the cost high. You can see the different types of service on our page, for example, budget, Standard and Comfort schemes. The budget one is a basic one, and the comfort one is a premium one, which is more luxurious in terms of service.
Season
The peak seasons of spring (March, April, and May) and autumn (September, October, and November) are the two best tourist seasons, although it does not impact the cost that much; however, it does a bit.

2. Transportation Costs: Public Bus vs. Private Jeep
We need to use the various types of transportation for the Manaslu Circuit trek, such as transportation from Kathmandu to Machhakhola, Dharapani to besisahar and Besishahar to Kathmandu. There are many options with different costs, so here we have tried to cover most of them
ROUTE/SECTIONS
PUBLIC BUS
PRIVATE JEEP
Kathmandu to Machha Khola
$12 – $15
$190 – $250
Dharapani to Besisahar
$60 – $70
$120 – $140
Besisahar to Kathmandu
$10 – $15
$120 – $160
2.1: Public bus transfer vs Private Jeep to Machhakhola to start the trek
There are two ways to go to Machhakhola: by public bus or by private jeep. Both options are possible for the trekkers.
Public bus
A cheap option, but the comfort and safety are not what they should be for the trekkers. The local bus to Machhakhola starts early in the morning from the Kathmandu Bus Park. The road to Machhakhola is off road at the last 3-4 hours, and in the bus, there are limited seats, and they are very small, which makes it very hard for trekkers to sit. After the long journey to Mchhakhola, there is a long next day to trek, so we advise trekkers not to use the public bus to get to Mchhakhola. The bus tickets cost $12 to $15 per person depends on the season.
Private Jeep
The expensive option is a private jeep to travel to Machhakhola. The private jeep is reliable, safe and comfortable, and it is very good to have a jeep. You can stop anywhere and take some breaks during the drive, and you can start late from Kathmandu. The private Jeep options are always good for the trekkers who need to hike long the next day, as it allows a safe and comfortable journey. The private Jeep costs vary from $250 to $280 more or less.
2.2: Sharing or Private Jeep to Besisahar from Dharapani
After arriving at Dharapani, where you finish the trek, there are Jeep options to go to Besisahar from Dharapani. You can use the sharing jeep or a private Jeep to Besisahar from Dharapani.
Sharing Jeep
Have to travel with the local people, and it is always very hard to find the shared jeep from Dharapani. If we find then lucky and it is good for the trekkers for 2 people with a Nepali Guide and a porter. The Sharing Jeep cost may be $60 to $70
Private Jeep
Very convenient options, a bit expensive but not that much. The private jeep costs from Dharapani to Besishahar is about $120 to $140. Very suitable for the trekkers who have to stop often in the jeep to see the villages and waterfalls during the drive.
2.3: Public bus or private car to Kathmandu
When you finish your trek from Besisahar, you have to drive back to Kathmandu, and there are again 2 options. You can either use the public bus or private vehicles. The road to Kathmandu is quite long because it is under construction.
Public bus
The cheap options, but may be tough for you because of the local people. Sometimes those public bus often stops for passengers to come in and go out, and mostly the public bus remains full. Local people sometimes stand in the passages, but it is less likely to happen. The public bus cost $10 to $15
Private car or jeep
Very convenient options, a bit expensive but not that much. Travellers can enjoy the journey, and it is very quiet and more private, so you can stops whever you want and relax during the travel. The private vehicle cost is $120 to $160.
International Travel to and from Nepal
You can take your suitable and most convenient flight to Kathmandu to begin your journey. Many airlines reaches kathmandu with different layover destinations and durations. The short flight durations may be costly, whereas the long flight duration may be a little less costly but quite stressful. You can take a suitable flight to Kathmandu to start the Manaslu circuit trek. As soon as you arrive, you can leave for Kathmandu for the trek, but we advise you to stay a day or two in Kathmandu for sightseeing and other activities.
3. Manaslu Circuit Trek Permit Cost Breakdown
The Manaslu circuit Permits Cost is also an overhead that is incurred on the Manaslu circuit trekking cost. There are 4 types of permits which are necessary for the Manaslu circuit trekking, and the most important of them are the Manaslu Restricted Area Permits, also known as RAP issue by Nepal Immigrations, Annapurna conservation area project permits (ACCAP), Manaslu Circuit Permits cost (MCAP) and the Local goverment permits.

The Manaslu Circuit trek requires a licensed trekking guide, and the cost is $25 to $30 per day. These English-speaking guides are very familiar with your trekking routes, cultures, navigations, and are helpful during an emergency. Having a good relationship with a travel guide makes your journey even better and more fun. They will help you build a better relationship with the locals, find better accommodation, and know more about the local cultures, lifestyle and traditions and many more.
For a successful and comfortable trek porter is very important. Having a porter increases your stamina and boosts your morale to overcome the obstacles you face during the Manaslu circuit trek. The hiking durations during the Manaslu circuit trek are longer and harder, and you need quite a lot of luggage. Porter hiring is a good option for manaslu circuit trek, and hiring a porter is an easier way to deal with the load and enjoy the journey to the fullest.
You can hire one or two porters (one porter often carries the bag of two people if it’s not that heavy) as per your will. A porter costs about $20 to $25 per day.
Now, multiply the price by the number of days you are going to trek, and there you have the price for the guide and porter.

When To Give The Tips?
Normally, the guides will be with you at the end of the treks and normally up to Kathmandu, but porters may not be up to that time. Everything went fine, the communications and the planning was very clear from the very first moment and I did all on short notice. The guide great too!! We were 4 in the group and we all finished successfully. We did Manaslu Trek
We did the 12 day Manaslu Circuit with our guide, Dhurba, and porter, Ram, and had the best time! Everything was organized by the owner at Nepal Trek Hub, who we met with when we arrived in Kathmandu to go over all the details. All our meals and accommodations on the trek were included and they even picked us up from the airport when we arrived to take us to our hotel. As two female travelers, we felt totally safe & taken care of the whole time. I would highly recommend this company and would definitely trek with them again! – Julia, USA
Liva and I spent 16 days hiking the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley, which was absolutely amazing. We trekked with Nepal Trek Hub, a newer company that was a bit cheaper than many of the others we found — a big plus for us, as we are young and traveling on a budget. We felt there was a high level of transparency regarding what we paid.
However, I believe the most important part of any trek is being comfortable with your guide and porter. We absolutely loved our porter, Chhowang. Even though communication was limited, he taught us a Nepalese card game, and he was great at making us feel safe and at ease. Our guide, Singgi, was also fantastic. We loved his humor and his passion for TikToks 😉 He had a young spirit and a real sense of style.
At first, we had to get used to the Nepalese way of doing things, especially the frequent phone calls to plan ahead. In the beginning, we thought he was just chatting with friends, but we soon learned it was essential to securing meals and accommodation. Sometimes it did feel like he was a bit too comfortable on the trails — he knew them so well that he would walk far ahead without checking whether we were still with him. We were also there to learn about the nature and culture, so if we hadn’t asked as many questions, I don’t think we would have learned quite as much from him. Occasionally, we had to remind him to slow down and remember us.
As for the trails themselves, we absolutely loved Tsum Valley. It is far less crowded, and the villages are smaller, which means you get much closer to both the other trekkers and the local villagers and their culture. Of course, fewer people also means fewer comforts — some nights we woke up to the sound of mice, and there was no Wi-Fi. But we would never choose it away because of that!
Manaslu Circuit was undeniably where the views were. It was magnificent. If your main focus is mountains and panoramic landscapes, doing only Manaslu is absolutely fine — just know you will be sharing the experience with many more people. I also think it depends on perspective: we met people who had just come from Everest Base Camp and found Manaslu almost empty, whereas we came directly from Tsum Valley, where you can walk an entire day without meeting anyone else.
After long planning me and my other 4 friends decided to go Nepal for Manaslu trek and I took the responsibility for arrangement of Nepal Manaslu Trek. I found the Local Company Nepal Trek Hub and read about them on internet and became quite impressed and started to email conversation with them regarding Mnaslu trek. Shreeram the Owner of Nepal Trek hub answer my each and everyquestion very quickly so we booked the trip with them. Upon our arrival Shreeram pick up us from Airport and we stayed in Kathmandu guest house. We met our guide there and shreeram did the briefing about our trek so it was very nice of him. Then afterwards we went to the gear shop for renting and buy the stuff. We were prepared fully before we departure but we had to wait for the permits. Sudeepa (female guide) shows us historical landmark Kathmandu and Pasupatinath as well as Boudhanath stupa by the next day while other guys were making the permits. It was nice to look around the city and know something cultural and historical things.
We met our porter on departure day (Raju, Bikram and depak) with our guide Rajesh and took jeep to arughat. It was horrible driving but it is ok we understand that it is mountain and the trail was too dusty and bumpy too. Next day we started our trek from sotikhola. The trek went very well Rajesh managed everything very smoothly as we were group of girls this guys are very careful about our sensitiveness. Rajesh and his porters are always very funny helpful as well as informative. We learn many things about people Nepal lifestyle, cultures and religion from them. More on Tripadvisior
we are very much delighted to the service of the Nepal Trek Hub while we were doing the spectacular manaslu trek in 2019 October. At first we got the contact from the internet and we started to communicate with them regarding our requirements. They gave us an excellent travel plan with every thing in details. The costing was totally fair although it was not cheapest . We choose to them because of their fast response and good review on german blogs. We were pick up through the airport then we had a big discussion and preparation regarding the trek. Next day we had a small sightseeing around the Pasupatinath and Boudhanath, at same day we hired some gears. We were just a couple and a guide and porter, the trek went very smoothly as our guide was very nice person. He was too kind to us and caring. We had many jokes during the trek. The trek was quite challenging though, we went to hike from samagaun to Manaslu Base camp this was the best part of our trek which I really enjoyed while others did not. We were very happy on our luck as well. The weather was super good. October is very busy season in Nepal. You need to adjust with many other tourist every where you go but that is normal. We were quite sad for our guide and porter because they did not have a good place to sleep , they were saying that is normal on this trek on this time. Overall we had a excellent trek with Nepal Trek Hub. We did not notice any mistakes or weakness from them. Thank you guys.
However I want to suggest the fellow travelers following. More on Tripadvisior
Manaslu Circuit Trek FAQ
Cost & Budgeting Information
How much does the Manaslu Circuit Trek typically cost in 2025/2026?
Manaslu Circuit Trek standard packages range from $830 to $1,090 per person, depending on group size ($830 per person for groups of 7+ and $1,090 for solo trekkers). This depends on whether you choose a budget-friendly local agency or an international luxury operator. The cost typically covers permits, licensed guides, porters, food, and accommodation.
Are there any hidden costs I should prepare for?
Yes. While packages cover essentials, you should budget an extra USD 20–30 per day for “trail luxuries” such as hot showers (USD 3–5), device charging (USD 2–4), Wi-Fi access (USD 3–5), and bottled or boiled drinking water.
Logistics and Restricted Area Rules
Can I trek the Manaslu Circuit solo or independently?
Yes, with the new law of trekking in the restricted area, 2026 solo trekkers can obtain permits and trek solo with the registered agency’s licensed holder guide
What permits are required and how much do they cost?
You need three main permits: the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP) which is USD 100/week in Autumn or USD 75/week in other seasons; the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP) at approx USD 25; and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) at approx USD 25.
Difficulty and Trek Preparation
How difficult is the Manaslu Circuit Trek?
The trek is considered challenging. While similar in altitude to Everest Base Camp, the trail is more remote with longer walking hours (6–8 hours daily). The crossing of the Larkya La Pass at 5,106m is the most physically demanding part of the journey.
When is the best time to trek the Manaslu Circuit?
The best seasons are Autumn (September to November) for stable weather and peak visibility, and Spring (March to May) for rhododendron blooms. Winter is difficult as the Larkya La Pass is often blocked by heavy snow.
Food, Accommodation, and Connectivity
What kind of accommodation and food is available?
You will stay in local teahouses offering twin-sharing rooms. Food consists of traditional Dal Bhat, noodles, and pasta. As you go higher, especially near Dharmasala, facilities become more basic and communal.
Is there electricity and internet connectivity on the trail?
Most teahouses use solar power for lighting and charging. Wi-Fi is available in lower villages like Namrung and Samagaun for a fee, but connectivity is unreliable or non-existent once you approach the high pass.
