Day 2: Machhakhola to Jagat 1340 M/ 4397 FT
The second day of your Manaslu trek begins, and it is your first trek day. You will cross the Machha Khola and walk for about 1 hour to reach the village of Khor la Besni. You will continuously follow the River Budi Gandaki, and the valley becomes much narrower, and you will reach the Hot Springs where there are some basic lodges to accommodate the trekkers. Continuously following the Budi Gandaki River, you will cross the suspension bridge to reach the hillock from where you can see the Jagat Village. It takes 30 more minutes to reach Jagat from here.
Day 3: Jagat to Deng 1804 M/ 5917 FT
Manaslu Restricted Area Permits start from here and last till day 11 up to Bhimthang
Here in Jagat, our special permits need to be checked, and your data will be entered as well from here till the Larkya La pass; you will be under the control region of Manaslu. Once all is set, you will begin the trek just near Jagat. There are many suspension bridges and cut trails that head to the Salleri, which is a small local settlement, and you can see the Shringi Himal from the trails. As you slowly climb from here, you will reach another settlement called Ghatte Khola.
This village is on the opposite side of the Philim village. Here we have a very long suspension bridge to cross the Budi Gandaki River, and once we cross the bridge, you will reach the village called Philim. From Philim, the trail’s head with the up and down to Ekle Bhatti, also known as a chisapani nowadays. You will see a lot of the Himalayan Sichuan paper trees as well as skyfalling waterfalls on the way. Having lunch here at Ekle Bhatti, you will continue your journey to Deng.
Once you leave the Ekle Bhatti, you will see the big waterfalls above you which head down to River Gandaki, and with ups and downs in the trails, you will reach another bridge from where the trails to Tsum Valley are separated. From here the trail goes up and down, but eventually, it goes up, crossing a couple of bridges; you will reach a village called Pewa, which is just on the Bank of the Budi Gandaki River. From here the trail heads upwards directions with stone staircases to reach the Deng village. You will stay overnight here.
Day 4: Deng to Namrung 2630 M/ 8626 FT
After leaving Deng villages the trail moves down to the bank of the river in zig-zag patterns. On the way, you will see many Sichuan paper trees and crossing the suspension bridge, you will climb to the small settlements. From here you can see the same peaks from where the trails go slightly up and down. Walking for a couple of hours, you will reach Bhi. Now, the trails head westwards up the Budhi Gandaki Valley and walk past the lush green forests and some local villages along the trails. From Bhi, there is another route too which goes to the pork villages too.
After walking for some hours from here, you will cross the Budi Gandaki River once again, and the terraces become much flatter and bigger. Here we reach Ghap. where you will have your lunch, and from here the trail goes into the Jungle. We need to cross the river multiple times, and our destination is in higher places, so we have to climb up hills. Most of the trails have stone staircases in zig-zag patterns.
During the walk, you will also see the pine and walnut trees together, and as you go higher, the forest gets wetter and less sunny. As we are closer to the Namrung, you will see some chortens, and soon you are in Namrung. From Namrung to above the valley is also known as the Nubri Valley.
Day 5: Namrung to Shyala Village 3500 m/ 11483 FT
This is easy and one of the best scenic days of the trek. You must register your permits at the police check post and start the trek through the big terraces and pine forests on the trails. As you walk from the corner of the terrace, they have done wall protection to avoid harm from the yak and other animals on their crops. We now head uphill to reach the Lhi village through the pine forests. After hiking for a couple of hours, you will reach the village of Lhi. From here you can see 2 peaks Himal Chuli and Him Chuli, to the north. Villages like Lhi, Lho, Shyala, and Samagaun are the settlements of the Bhotia residents
From Li-Gaun, we’ll descend slightly to the Hinang Khola, crossing a wooden bridge before ascending the gentle climb to Kyo-Gaun (2950 meters) through the pine forests. This picturesque village, with its wheat fields and apple orchards, offers spectacular views of Mount Manaslu, Manaslu North, and Naike Peak from different perspectives.
Walking through the easy uphill sections, we reach another village, also known as a sho-Gaun. The Sho-Ggaun is a relatively small village but offers great views of Mt Manaslu and the forest above the village, and you can also see the Monasteries on the other side of the valley.
The trail continues its upward journey, leading us to Lo-Gaun (3180 meters). This village has a lot of stone walls to protect the village as well as fields from the Yaks and other animals. This is also a colourful village because of the Chorten and many Mani walls, as well as prayer flags everywhere on the top of the houses.
< p> On the outskirts of the village, you will see some Mani walls and chortens, and you cross this and go through the middle of the terraces and head north by leaving the Lho monasteries, also known as a Ribung Gompa, on the right side. You continue your journey through the pine and oak forests to the Shyala. With continued uphills and downhills, you will often cross the river and then head uphill to the Shyala Village. Shyala village is located at an altitude of 3500 meters and offers the perfect panoramic views of Mt Manaslu 8153, Nadi Chuli(7871m), Himal Chuli(7893m) and many other peaks in one sight.
Day 6: Trek from Shyala to Samagaon via Pungyen Monastery
From Syala, we have another interesting day to hike to Phungen Monastery, which is very near Mt Manaslu, and it offers the perfect views of the surrounding peaks around there. We will take the ascent trails to climb and follow the rivers to Pungyen Gompa. The initial 1.5 hours from Syala to Pungyen Gompa is pretty challenging due to ascent trails and climbing; then, for a short while, it’s flat land. In this section, you get the view of the most spectacular mountain view of Manaslu, the best viewpoint of the journey.
This 600/700-year-old monastery is the highlight of this trip to Manaslu. You will enjoy the perfect scenery of Mt Manaslu from here, and then we will descend to Samagaun.
You will trek through the Yak Pasture land and local crop fields, as well as a local school, which is located very near Samaagun. When we are near Samagaun, you can see the typical houses and local people here. We will stay overnight at Samagaun village tonight.
Day 7: Samagaun Exploration day 3500 M/ 11483 FT
This is your acclimatisation day for acclimatising. You are ascending too fast, so you have to give some breaks to your body to adjust to the altitude here because the altitude of the Samagaun is already 3500 Meters. Almost all the tourists rest here in Samaagaun for acclimatisation. It is a good place to acclimatise, which is to hike higher and sleep lower, as there are some perfect day hiking destinations for the day which might be very good for your acclimatisation. The two hiking options are here.
1. Birendra Lake
The Birendra Lake is within a 1-hour distance of uphill accent from Samagaun. The lake is formed after the glaciers from Manaslu melt and fall on that lake. It is a spectacular blue lakes which are very beautiful to see and acclimatize yourself for the upcoming hikes in the next days. You can see a lot of yak herds grazing on the trails to the lake, and the way to the lake also offers spectacular views of the Samagaun villages.
2. Manaslu Base Camp Trek
You can do the spectacular Manaslu Base Camp day hike (4,800 m) for close-up glacier views, or visit Birendra Lake. Read our complete guide on the Manaslu Base Camp excursion from Samagaun for elevation profiles, trail tips, and timing. The longer adventure, as well as a much higher hike, is to reach the base of Mt Manaslu, and it also goes through the bank of the Birendra Lake. You can enjoy the magnificent scenery above the Birendra Lake, and as you go higher, you can see many peaks on the way to Manaslu base camp. The Manaslu base camp is located at an altitude of around 4600 meters and is quite an enchanting and rewarding hike. You need to bring a packed lunch and enough water for the day, and the weather as well as the trails must be without ice; otherwise, it is hard to go to Manaslu base camp.
Day 8: Samagaun to Samdo 3860 M/ 12664 FT 3 Hours
Perhaps it is the short and easy day of the Manaslu trek because the altitude gain is very low, and there is not that much ascent to climb up. The trek begins with a flat way to the river, which is located on the North of Samagaun. The trails are filled with irregular stones as they want to protect them from becoming muddy from the continuous yak movements. As you cross the river, you will see the longest Mani walls, and while walking via Mani walls, you can see Mt Manaslu on your back, and you keep walking along the bank of the Budi Ganadaki river.
You will see several Yak herds and Mani walls during the trek to Samdo, and a very interesting thing is that today you can see the mountain mouse, also known as a marmot, on the way to Samagaun. You can also see some locals who go from Samagaun to Samdo or Samdo to Samagaun for their regular work.
The trek continues along the bank of the river and slightly climbs near Samdo, and again, you must go down to the river to cross. Once you cross the Budi Gandagi Riveryou have to climb the accent hills to reach the Samdo village through the stone-paved staircases to reach the Samdo Village. At the entrance of the Samdo village, there is a Chorten to see, and you stay overnight at Samdo village.
Day 9: Samdo to Dharmasala 4460 M/ 14632 FT 5 Hours
Today, first we walk for half an hour to the Budhi Gandaki River. After crossing the wooden bridge over Budi Gandaki, we begin walking upward. Upon crossing two streams and witnessing the Larkya Glacier, we go to Dharamsala(4450 m). In Dharamsala, there is one community lodge where we have to spend the night.
Day 10: Dharmasala Bhimthang 3720 M/ 12204 FT 9 Hours
We need to climb up from Dharamsala. The trail goes slowly up towards Larke La pass. It takes about 4 hours to get to the top. During the trek, we can see great views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. When we are at the pass, we will spend a few hours over there. From the pass, you can see the views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kanguru and the huge Annapurna II. It is a longer day than usual to Bimtang, but to walk into these low pastures with the evening mist coming in with Mt. Manaslu looming close by is an overwhelming experience
Day 11: Bhimthang to Dharapani 1860 M/ 6102 FT. 7 Hours
From Bimthang, we can enjoy great views of Mt. Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal and Cheo Himal. Then we descend to Dudh Khola. We walk through an oak and rhododendron forest and follow a trail through a narrow valley. We continuously go down to Tilche through the Goa village. Tilche is a big Gurung village. From Tilche to Dharapani, it just takes half an hour. Stay overnight at Dharapani
Day 12: Dharapani to Kathmandu Drive
Drive back to the capital city after the trek conclusion.

Trek Difficulty, Safety & Packing List
The most difficult thing in the Manaslu Circuit Trek is to cross the Larkya La Pass. But other things make the Manaslu circuit trek moderate to challenging trek. This trek is very suitable for those with prior trekking experience or good physical fitness. While the trek is not as technical as some high-altitude expeditions or climbing, it still poses some difficulties, including high altitude, long trekking duration, and remote terrain and the tough Larkya La Pass
⛰️ Assessing Physical Preparation & Elevation: Wondering if your current endurance matches the daily terrain and altitude profile? Check our comprehensive Manaslu Circuit Trek Difficulty guide for training advice, altitude sickness (AMS) prevention, and daily walking expectations.
Moderate Challenging trek:
The Manaslu Circuit Trek in Nepal is considered a moderately difficult ie adventure trek. The trek requires a reasonable level of physical fitness and some prior trekking experience. This makes it easier but even if you do not have and if you are physically fit and can walk around 8-9 hours in a day then you can do the Manaslu circuit trek. In some Areas the camps are longer and you need to trek up to 25km-26km/16-17 MilesLonger distance camps:
The distance between the hotel and to hotel camp is longer on this trekking trail as compared to the other trekking trails. For example, from the first day till you reach the Samagaun the daily trekking distance is around 20-25km/ 12-15 Miles. You need to have longer walking endurance in rugged mountain terrain trails.Frequent accends and descents
In this trek, there are a lot of accent uphills and descends downhills trekking trails. The trail involves steep ascents and descents, particularly before and after Larkya La. Rocky and uneven paths, especially in the upper sections.Larke(Larkya) la pass:
The Larke la Pass 5,106 m (16,751 ft) is a challenging altitude to cross and there is a longer distance to cover. Many trekkers may find it difficult from an altitude of 3500 meters so extra precautions are required and need to take extra care of your body in the altitude. Before and after the pass also the trek is totally difficult and filled with the rock and moraine trails so might be tough for you.Weather & Temperature Extremes
Cold nights and mornings (can drop below -10°C / 14°F near Larkya La or even less in winters). Unpredictable snow falls may happen any time (especially in winter/early spring) can make the pass crossing harder and colder.Remote & Basic Conditions
The trek area has a Limited medical facilities; the nearest hospital is in Kathmandu. Talking about the accommodations, there are basic Tea houses (especially in Dharamsala where you have to share the rooms), with fewer luxuries than Annapurna or Everest. No Technical Climb:
Langtang trek does not require any technical climb, the trail is very good but rugged and with frequent steep ups and downs around the Larke pass Area. The trails are filled with the uneven stone filled trails

Safety & Essential Info
The Manaslu Circuit trek is considered safe for individuals who are in good health. Nepal Trek Hub has been organising Manaslu Circuit Trek treks since 2018 and has taken a diverse range of participants, including families with children as young as 9 years old and individuals in their late 60s.Based on our past experiences, only around 2% of trekkers are not able to cross the Larkya La pass because of the altitude and some physical issues. Most of the issues our clients faced were altitude sickness on the Manaslu Circuit trek.
Nepal Trek Hub employs experienced guides for your safe and secure adventure hiking
Nepal Trek Hub deploys a very experienced, professionally licensed guide for the group which goes on the Manaslu Circuit Trek. Our Guides are trained by NATHAM and hold a Government Trekking Guide License issued by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation of Nepal. Additionally, our leaders undergo annual intensive training updates, including Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certifications from specialised alpine rescue groups and advanced altitude physiology training covering the early detection of HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Oedema) and HACE (High Altitude Cerebral Oedema).
What are the issues that may arise during the Manaslu Circuit Trek?
Manaslu Circuit Trek a adventure grade trek, and trekkers may face various issues or problems during the trek, and some of them are risky as well. Nepal Trek Hub experience guide and our team coordination will be there to assist you at the utmost level to keep you safe and sound throughout the Manaslu Circuit Trek adventure, and here are the issue that arises during the trek.Altitude Sickness.
Also known as AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), or simply altitude sickness, it is a negative physical reaction that happens when your body fails to adapt to high elevations quickly enough. In other words, when the body can not adopt with the lower oxygen levels of high altitude. Some of the symptoms of AMS are persistent, throbbing headache (usually behind the eyes or temples), fatigue, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea, and trouble sleeping (insomnia). Normally, altitude-related issues technically begin at 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) above sea level, and Manaslu is a high-elevation trek, so there is a big chance of getting AMS if no precautions are taken. It is very likely to happen when ascending too fast into an environment where the barometric pressure drops, making the air “thinner” and meaning there are fewer oxygen molecules available per breath.
How to prevent AMS
- Slow and steady pace: During the trek, follow a slow and steady pace; this helps a lot to overcome AMS.
- Acclimatisation Day: Having the acclimatisation day in Samagaun at the altitude of 3500 meters helps a lot to acclimatise. In our itinerary, we have set up a day for acclimatisation in Samagaun, which you can use for exploration, and for exploration we would go to Manaslu Base Camp. This will follow the Hike and Sleep Low principles and help you adjust to the acclimatisation, which means a fantastic acclimatisation day.
- Hike High, Sleep Low: Walk up to a higher altitude during the day to stimulate your red blood cells, but drop back down to a lower altitude to sleep.
- Hydrate Constantly: The air at high altitudes is incredibly dry, and your breathing rate increases. Drink 3 to 4 litres of water daily to aid circulation during the Manaslu Circuit Trek each day.
- Avoid bad habits: Drinking and smoking during the high altitude trek like this increase the risk of AMS, so we suggest you stop it Eat healthy and fluid: heaving carb rich foods and fluid like soup can help to boost the immune system against AMS
- The Ultimate Cure is Descent: Mild symptoms can often be managed by resting at the same altitude for an extra 24 to 48 hours or taking preventative medications like Diamox (acetazolamide). However, if symptoms worsen or progress toward HAPE/HACE, immediate descent to a lower altitude is the only definitive cure.
What Nepal Trek Hub do
Measure the oxygen every day
We will follow all the prevention methods, as well as we do some extra things as well. At Nepal Trek Hub, we don’t guess your altitude adaptation—we measure it. Once you are at the 3,000-meter mark at Namrung, or earlier we our licensed guides will take the measure of your oxygen level and Heart Beat Per minutes with the digital pulse oximeters. Every morning before breakfast and every evening before sleep, we record your resting heart rate and blood oxygen saturation ($SpO_2$) levels in our logbooks. If your oxygen levels fall below 75% at Sama Gaun (3,530m), our team initiates immediate strict acclimatisation protocols, including extra hydration monitoring and mandatory rest, ensuring you are physically prepared before stepping foot in Dharmasala (4,460m). We have also managed the 1-day acclimatisation rest day in Samagaun, and on this day you will hike and sleep low; this will significantly boost your adaptation.Helicopter Rescue if an emergency
In the rare event of severe Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) or physical injury where immediate descent is not sufficient, Nepal Trek Hub deploys an automated crisis management workflow. Our Guide will ensure safety first and organise the rescue operations in coordination with the agency. Since the Manaslu Restricted Area, there needs to be some legal work before evacuations, and as soon as it is done, we will evacuate you. It might be on the same day or as early as possible in the next day. We maintain direct priority partnerships with major Nepalese helicopter rescue operators. If an evacuation is ordered from Samdo or Bhimthang, our city team handles the immediate flight dispatch, handles airport landing permissions, and interfaces directly with your international travel insurance providers (such as World Nomads, Allianz, or TuGo) to ensure seamless admission to international-standard hospitals in Kathmandu.”
Avalanches.
Although it is a less risky route in terms of avalanches, it still has some risk of avalanches, especially if you trek in winter. Some trails between Samagaun to Samdo and Dharmasala to Bhimthang have some risk of avalanches, and our guide will do an assessment and lead you to your destinations.Heavy Snowfalls
In the mountains, the weather is very unpredictable, and so is here. Sometimes we may experience heavy snowfall continuous for 2-3 days. This leads to heavy snow on the trails and sometimes even blocks the trails as well. Our Guide will assess the situation and talk with the locals and police officers, follow the safety measures or sometimes even have to abort the crossing if the trails are blocked.Landslides and stonefalls.
The road construction work is going on the route of the Manaslu Circuit trek, and they are using dynamite to blast the stones, which is something to consider; some of the trails must go through the road, and if you are doing the trek in early autumn, there is a chance of landslides and stonefalls in the road construction area. Near Yaru Phat, there is a big landslide, and it is very active, so you must be careful in this section, and our guide will assess the situation and take you to your destinations. After the Larkya La pass, near the descent trails, there is a stonefall area, which is one of the dangerous sections of the entire trail, and our expert guide knows all the risky zones, and they will lead you, observing the situation and trails.Larkya La Pass Crossing Protocols
Crossing the Larkya La Pass 5,106 m (16,751 ft) is the ultimate goal of the Manaslu Circuit, and it needs some arrangements. Nepal Trek Hub guide will brief you on what to pack for the next day, water quantity, crampons, gaiters, wind stopper, some snacks and any other necessary items. To ensure the guest’s safety and successful crossing, our team enforces a 4:00 AM alpine departure from the high camp at Dharmasala. This ensures our trekkers will have a clear view and avoid the strong winds that start early afternoon. This also helps unpredictable weather fronts settle over the pass. We maintain a strict 1:4 safety ratio on this demanding day: for every four trekkers, a qualified assistant guide or experienced mountain sherpa is positioned at the rear, ensuring no individual ever walks alone on the snowfieldsManaslu Circuit Trek packing list (Gear Lists)
Nepal Trek Hub advises you to bring the essential clothing and accessories which are important for the Manaslu circuit trek. As it is a High-pass trek, it is better to have some good gear specifically for the outfits for the lower body and upper body. We understand that you may have different brands and tastes in your design, but all we can say is bring the most comfortable one. We have listed the Manaslu circuit trek packing list, which you can use as your baggage. Porters will carry the main luggage/duffle bags, and it should be around 10-15 Kg for each trekker. We provide one porter for 2 trekkers, so the porter will be shared between both trekkers.

Best Time of Year for the Manaslu Trek
Autumn (October, November and early December) is the best time, and Spring (March, April and May) is the second best time to do the Manaslu circuit Trek. Normally, both season is perfect for high altitude treks like the Manaslu circuit. During this time, the sky remains clear with the blue sky and visibility is very clear so you can enjoy the mountain scenery perfectly and this time is also suitable in terms of the weather and temperature.
1. Spring Seasons (March, April and May)
Pleasant Temperatures: In this season, in the lower areas, the temperatures are pretty hot, whereas above 4000 meters, the temperatures during the day are typically 10°C to 25°C when it is sunny, but at night, it will be cold and can go up to -0 o -10°C. So the time is considered pleasant for the trek- Stable & Clear Skies (Especially Mornings): Normally, during the spring, the weather is stable and sunny. Mornings typically offer crystal-clear blue sky views of the Himalayas.
- Longer Daylight Hours: The spring days are much longer, and you can walk and enjoy till the evening, up to around 7 pm, when the daylight appears.
- Less possibility of Rain/Snow: There is very little chance of rain and snow in March, April and May. So it is a very suitable time to cross the Larke La Pass.
- Rhododendron and magnolia flowers bloom: in this season, in the lower Manaslu Conservation area, the rhododendron and magnolia flowers blossoms that makes the landscapes and forest even more amazing and beautiful. The trees of the forests get the new baby green leaves, which is also very nice.
- Crowd on the trek: Spring is considered the second-best season for the Manaslu Circuit trek, so there might be a crowd of tourists.
2. Autumn Seasons (October and November)
Autumn is the best season to trek the Manaslu Circuit with the Perfect temperatures and weather. The stable, dry, and clear weather following the monsoon for the Manaslu circuit trekking because the weather is neither hot nor cold in the lower area, but in the higher area 10°C to 25°C when it is sunny, but at night, it will be cold and can go up to around -5 or -15°C at the end of november the temperature drops even more at the night time.- Clean and blue sky: Autumn is considered the time of stable weather and sunny days. Mornings to day there will be crystal-clear blue sky, splendid views of the Manaslu and other high Himalayan ranges
- Perfect visibility: due to the fantastic weather and clear sky, you can see the perfect views of the mountains and far beyond the ranges
- Less possibility of Rain/Snow: dThere is very little chance of rain and snow because it is the post-monsoon season. But there may still be some rain if you do the trek last September to early October. But it is less likely to happen.
- Dry and safe trails: The post-monsoon season means the trails become much drier and less slippery, which is easier and safer for the trek.
- Festival seasons: During the Autumn season, Nepali people celebrate their 2 biggest festival celebrations, Dashain and Tihar, during which you can enjoy.
- Crowd on the trek: there will be a big flow of the tourist on this season because of the best time of year to trek to Manaslu.
3. Monsoon seasons
Trekkers can trek to the Manaslu Circuit area, but leeches, floods, landslides and a cloudy sky are the problem of this time. We even see many accidents happen during this period. If you have time and do it anyway, then you can do it with the help of a professional guide. The scenery depends on your luck. You can not enjoy the trek this time like in the Spring and Autumn seasons.
4. Winter season
December and January are the coldest months, in this month the temperature is very cold, the weather is mostly cloudy, so it means you can not see a good view of the Himalayas. There is more chance of avalanches and snowfalls on this trek. Also, it is very cold to do the trek, and the temperatures may reach up to -25 or more in the Larke la pass area, and it is very hard to cross the Larke la pass because of the thick snow on the trails.

Best Side Trips of Manaslu Circuit Trek
Manaslu circuit trek is not just the circuit of Mt Manaslu but it also has multiple side trips which trekkers can do while they do the Manaslu circuit trek. Trekkers should do the acclimatization for the better acclimatization before they set up their goal to cross the Larke la pass. These side trips are extremely important for the trekkers to spend their leisure days and to be fit with the alpine environment. Here are some side trips for the trekkers who do the Manaslu Trek.
Manaslu Base Camp (4848m)
Manaslu base camp trek/hike is the best side trip of the Manaslu circuit trek. Manaslu circuit trek means to circle Mt Manaslu but not to reach the base camp of the Manaslu. Trekkers wishing to reach the base camp of the Manaslu then need to trek to Manaslu base camp from Samagaun. Samagaun is the place where most of the trekkers do the day acclimatization. Hiking to Manaslu base camp is a good day hike for your rest day at Samagaon. It takes 5-6 hours from Samagaun. The trail to Manaslu base camp is quite ascetic because you will gain altitude around 1200-1300 Meters. The hike allows you to enjoy one of the breathtaking views of the Samagaun and the mountain ranges including the giant Mt Manaslu 8,153 Meters.

Manaslu Base Camp
Birendra Lake (3620m)
Birendra lake is one of the side trips that you can do when you are on the Manaslu trek. The glacier lake formed from the melting ice of Mt. Manaslu. The lake is located at the top of the Samagaun and it is easily accessible for trekkers. If you want to spend the day without doing the hard sight trips then it is best for you. Passing the local villages and gompa you can reach the lake Birendra. It is named by the king Birendra who was a former king of Nepal. Astonishing surroundings can be seen while hiking to Birendra lake. dzopkyos and yaks will be on your way and around.

Phungyen Gompa
Phungyen Gompa, also called Pungyen Gompa or Phung Gumba, is a secluded and sacred Buddhist monastery near Sama Gaon in Nepal’s Manaslu region. It’s one of the oldest in the area and holds deep spiritual significance for locals, who believe it protects the valley from avalanches. Inside, you’ll find ancient Buddhist texts, statues, and thangkas.
A visit here also rewards you with incredible, up-close views of Mt. Manaslu (8,163m) and other stunning snow-capped peaks and glaciers like Himalchuli and Ngadi Chuli. Because it’s a bit off the main trekking path, Phungyen Gompa offers a peaceful and authentic experience, with the trail leading through traditional Tibetan villages like Lho and Shyala.

To get there, it’s about a 2-3 hour hike northeast from Sama Gaon or Shyala (3,530m) towards Manaslu Base Camp. The trail involves a steep climb up to the monastery, which is elevated at the altitude of around 4,000m. The main objectives of the Monastery visit is to know religions and the significance and enjoy the magnificent vista of the Himalayas.

Our guide always made sure we were super well fed and taken care of! Thank you all for taking such good care of us!!! We absolutely recommend hiring Dhruba as your guide because he is absolutely incredible. We will miss him!!! Thank you for being such a great guide Dhruba!!! We will miss playing card and dice games with you!! Can’t wait to come back and do another trek with you guys! And thank you, Sheeram, for being so accommodating and flexible with us!! We changed our itinerary mid-trip to hike a day faster than intended, and it was no issue at all! And huge shout out to Mama who carried my partner’s bag!! Mama was such a great porter! He was so fun to hang out with and just so helpful!!! Thank you, Nepal Trek Hub!
Best Manaslu Circuit Trek
We had an amazing experience with this company during our Manaslu Trek. Everything was perfectly organized and the communication before and during the trek was always smooth, professional, and reliable.
What we really appreciated was the flexibility. Everything could be arranged very spontaneously and adapted to our needs. Sheeram even organized to send a backpack to Pokhara for us, which helped us a lot.
Our guide, Dhurba, was absolutely fantastic. We always felt safe with him. He managed and organized everything perfectly, explained a lot, answered all our questions, and was always there for us. He also adjusted the trek according to the weather and our condition, which made a huge difference.
Thanks to him, we made it safely over the pass and had an unforgettable experience.
We can highly recommend this company!
Great experience & great company!
We did the 12 day Manaslu Circuit with our guide, Dhurba, and porter, Ram, and had the best time! Everything was organized by the owner at Nepal Trek Hub, who we met with when we arrived in Kathmandu to go over all the details. All our meals and accommodations on the trek were included and they even picked us up from the airport when we arrived to take us to our hotel. As two female travelers, we felt totally safe & taken care of the whole time. I would highly recommend this company and would definitely trek with them again! – Julia, USA
Amazing Manaslu Trek
Everything went fine, the communications and the planning was very clear from the very first moment and I did all on short notice. The guide great too!! We were 4 in the group and we all finished successfully. We did Manaslu Trek
Great manaslu trek
After long planning me and my other 4 friends decided to go Nepal for Manaslu trek and I took the responsibility for arrangement of Nepal Manaslu Trek. I found the Local Company Nepal Trek Hub and read about them on internet and became quite impressed and started to email conversation with them regarding Mnaslu trek. Shreeram the Owner of Nepal Trek hub answer my each and everyquestion very quickly so we booked the trip with them.
Upon our arrival Shreeram pick up us from Airport and we stayed in Kathmandu guest house. We met our guide there and shreeram did the briefing about our trek so it was very nice of him. Then afterwards we went to the gear shop for renting and buy the stuff. We were prepared fully before we departure but we had to wait for the permits.
Sudeepa (female guide) shows us historical landmark Kathmandu and Pasupatinath as well as Boudhanath stupa by the next day while other guys were making the permits. It was nice to look around the city and know something cultural and historical things.
We met our porter on departure day (Raju, Bikram and depak) with our guide Rajesh and took jeep to arughat. It was horrible driving but it is ok we understand that it is mountain and the trail was too dusty and bumpy too. Next day we started our trek from sotikhola. The trek went very well Rajesh managed everything very smoothly as we were group of girls this guys are very careful about our sensitiveness. Rajesh and his porters are always very funny helpful as well as informative. We learn many things about people Nepal lifestyle, cultures and religion from them.
We really enjoyed our trek with them in the rest day in Samagaun we went to hike the Mnasalu base camp it was our guide suggestion which was unforgettable and we are very thankful to him eventhough it was quite tough to go there. The most scenic part of the journey I guess. We had also rest in Samdo on that day we hike to samdo ri for the better acclimatization.
It was very cold up there in samdo and dharmasala, Specially in Dharmasala we could not sleep for the whole night because of the cold and Height. The Nepalese guys were playing cards on that night to spent the night I guess. We crossed the larke la successfully and arrived to Manag which is also the part of Annapurna circuit.
The trek was truly amazing and enjoyable I don’t have any words to describe how beautiful it was and arriving in Amsterdam I am missing my days of Mountains. Our guide and porter were fantastic so we made this trip successful by the help of these guys. I would like to say many many thank you to Nepal Trek hub for managing our trip beautifully like this.
Overall, Our Experience with Nepal Trek Hub to Manaslu Trek was one of our best trip we have ever made. You can also make it.
Highly Recommended Trek Agency in Nepal.
