Langtang Valley Trek 5 Days Itinerary

1
Day 01: Drive to Domen, then trek to Bamboo
Activity: Drive & Trek Highlight: Langtang National Park Altitude: 1,600m (5,249ft) Duration: 10-11 Hours Distance: 125km (77.6 mi)

Langtang trek 5 days will be pretty comfortable if you take the private jeep to Domen. Heaving a jeep is also safer and more convenient for you because you can start anytime, but we recommend you start early in the morning because your goal is to reach the bamboo. If you start the trek from Domen, it takes 2.30 hours to reach the bamboo, but if you start from Syabrubensi, it takes 3.5 hours. You will pass cities like Tokha, Trisuli, and Kalikasthan to reach Dhunche. You will get your Langtang National Park permits here and have to show your trekking luggage to the army. We advise you not to bring drones, a Lighter, or a Knife in your backpack. From here, you continue to drive up to Domen, which is located on the bank of the Langtang river and finally leave the jeep here. The trek begins from here. The trails often go up and down and walk parallel to the rivers. You will have to walk through the dense forest of maple, massive spruce, fir, blue pine, rhododendron and so many bamboos. The trail is easy but gradually climbs to the bamboo.

2
Day 02: Trek to Thangshyap 3,140 m (10,270 ft)
Activity: Trekking Highlight: Lama Hotel & Forest Altitude: 3,140m (10,270ft) Duration: 6-7 Hours Distance: 11km (6.8 mi)

Early in the morning, we start the trek, the trail climbs gently and extends up through the thick forest to reach the Lama Hotel which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to Lama Hotel. In this part, there are a lot of stairs. From here, the trail still climbs. During the trek, we pass the forests of hemlocks, oaks, maples and white and pink rhododendrons high above the Langtang Khola. With the view of Langtang Lirung (7244m). Once we reach the planned area where there is a less tree, there is a village called Ghoda tabela where you will have to enter your permits, which your guide does. Now, the trails become easier and reaches to Thangshayp.

3
Day 03: Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa & Kyanjin Ri 4700 m Hike
Activity: Hike & Summit Highlight: Glaciers & Peaks Altitude: 3,870m (12,696ft) Duration: 5-6 Hours Distance: 10km (6.2 mi)

Today is the most scenic day. It is quite an easy way due to less altitude gain and smooth and gentle ascent trails till Kyanjin Gompa. We need to walk through the Yak pasture field and buckwheat terrace, where you can see the other side of the valley’s forest and mountain range. You can see some peaks while you walk towards Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is the village where you mostly see the hotels. There is a bakery shop where they also make different types of coffee. You can see the Langtang Lirung 7,234 M, Langtang Ri 7,205 M, Dorje Lakpa 6,966 M, Loenpo Gang 6,907 M, Changbu 6,781 M, Gangchenpo 6,387 M. You will do small lunch here and start the hike to Kyanjin Ri. It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to reach the summits, and on the way, you can see the excellent view of the mountain peaks and glaciers. Return to the Kyanjin Gompa village and stay overnight here.

4
Day 04: Trek back to Rimche 2,400 m (7,847 ft)
Activity: Returning Highlight: Valley Descent Altitude: 2,400m (7,847ft) Duration: 7-8 Hours Distance: 15km (9.3 mi)

From today, we begin to go down the valley. We follow the same way to go down, crossing the Langtang village, Ghoda Tabela, we reach Lama Hotel, and we probably stay at Rimche.

5
Day 05: Trek to Domen, then Jeep back to Kathmandu
Activity: Trek & Drive Highlight: KTM Return Altitude: 1,350m (4,429ft) Duration: Full Day Distance: 130km (80.7 mi)

The trek is quite difficult today because we have to go down, the descent is harder because of the landslides after the Rimche. We need to walk through the forest, and we can reach Domen around 11 am and take the jeep to Kathmandu from there.

How difficult is langtang Valley Trek 5 days

The Langtang Trek 5 days is an moderate-grade trek in terms of difficulty. But here are some things you need to consider.

    • Quite Rushed Plan

This is a moderate-grade trek on the north of the Kathmandu valley of Nepal, which is why it can be done in 5 days, Generally, it is 7 night 8 days plan which is why it is quite a rush plan so obviously you will have some pressure each day because of the lack of time. Early start and late reach in the camps are normal in this trek.

    • Altitude is not that much but there is a risk

As you plan to do the Langtang Valley trek for 5 days you are going to sleep at an altitude of around 3900 meters and you will gain altitude very quickly in this trek so you have to be careful while hiking in these trails. Drinking enough water and slow and steady peace help you to overcome the altitude issue.

    • Mountain terrain with frequent stairs

As we have to trek in the mountain terrain frequent ups and downs are normal. In these tails, there are pretty much stairs to climb up and go down which might be harder for you. Lower areas of forest have some rugged trails and so as the Hiking points. Comfortable trekking boots and hiking poles can be good for your safety and stability on trekking.

    • No previous walking or trekking experience is required:

For this trek, you are not required to do any kind of previous trek but will be better if you have. You can do some jugging before you come to do that.

Langtang trek 5 days best time

For the great experience of the Langtang trek 5 days you should know about the weather and the best time to do the trek so the experience may become even more delightful. Unlike other trek trails of Nepal, it needs to be done in Good time that is Spring and Autumn season. Here in this description, we will discuss how it looks to trek throughout the year and you may decide which time of the year you want to explore.

    • 1. Spring Season (March-May)

This season starts at the end of February and lasts till around June 10. Namely, we consider the 3 months of March, April and May to be the spring season and this beautiful season in Nepal when nature opens perfectly and the temperature is pretty warm and humid. The skies remain clear till the afternoon and trekkers can enjoy the breathtaking scenery while trekking plus you do not need that many thick clothes because of the warm temperatures. There is very little chance of getting Snowfalls and rainfall during that time and you can enjoy the beautiful rhododendron and magnolia blossom. It is also the expedition time in Nepal.

    • 2. Autumn (October, November)

This is the best season for the Nepal trek and travel. During this time when most of the travellers visit Nepal to get an excellent experience. The post-monsoon season is neither hot nor cold for the mountaineering activities such as trekking and climbing. Trekkers can enjoy the mountain scenery throughout the days and there is very little chance of rainfalls and snowfalls. The whole day sunshine, Clear and blue skies, warm days and cool nights. The clear skies are great for viewing the beauty of the magnificent mountains. Due to the suitable temperatures and excellent visibility trekkers can enjoy the trek and so as in the Langtang trek. This is the best time to do the Langtang trek 5 days.

    • 3. Summer / Monsoon (June-August)

Monsoon is not a good time to trek as there are many risks of landslides and floods as well as frequent bad weather and less visibility. Monsoon is the busiest season in Nepal because most of the Nepalese people are involved in Agriculture. The countryside is busy planting rice and other crops for the whole year. In this season people also plant millet for the floor in the countryside. People also harvest corn in this season.

    • 4. Winter (December, January, February)

Winter is the coolest season in Nepal. The temperature gets very low all over the Nepal. The nights can be freezing cold as the temperature falls low after sunset. Snowfall is common in the Himalayan and upper hilly regions of Nepal. This is not a good season to trek in Nepal. But you can still do this trek and the good view depends on your luck.

    Langtang Trek

    December 22, 2022

Shreeram is a local in Kathmandu and we were so lucky to come across his whatsapp number online. We spent a long time looking up different treks that were all ridiculously overpriced and organised by bigger tour companies outside of Nepal. Once we had Shreerams details, we were able to communicate with him directly over 2 weeks whilst we were still travelling India. He answered all the questions we had about the different treks, our budget and timeframe. No money was exchanged before meeting with him, everything was priced reasonably and he helped us get our gear sorted and phones set up before we left – you can rent trekking gear and it’s cheaper if you are with a local. Very organised and great service.

Now for our guide and porter. Sabin was our guide and spoke very good English (regardless of what he thinks haha). He’s very considerate of other people and knowledgable about his country and the treks all around. He’s from a town close by to the Langtang valley trek and gave us a lot of information about the area, before and after the devastating earthquake in 2015. He treks with ease and will take care of you if you are unwell or injured – recieved massages on rest breaks for my injured leg and he offered to take my bag on numerous occasions.

Des was our porter. He carried everything we couldn’t fit in our day bags, which was more than we’d wanted him to carry. He honestly still could’ve trekked in half the amount of time if he wanted to, he is so fast. Des doesn’t speak much English but he is smiling every step of the way and even broke into dance when he’d manage to get ahead of us and have a rest.

The langtang valley trek itself was amazing. It was hard because I injured myself but the overall experience made it worth it. There is such a mix of trekkers on this trail, it’s really motivating. From families to a group of birdwatchers in their 60’s and 70’s, it really is a trek for everyone as long as you can go at your own pace. With Shreeram’s tour, we went as fast or slow as we wished and enjoyed it so much more than if we were in a big group.

Shreeram is amazing!!! My husband and I did LangTang National Park as part of our honeymoon trip. Our trip was a total of 8 days. Shreeram was great from the start, always responded to Whatsapp messages promptly, picked us up from the airport and of course lead us through the magnificent LangTang hike.

Shreeram and Ram were so kind, hospitable and absolutely hilarious. My husband and I had the best trip!! The food was delicious and views were absolutely breathtaking.

I would 100% recommend Nepal Trek Hub to anyone who is considering trekking in the Himalaya mountain range. Shreeram made us feel safe throughout the whole trip and shared lots of knowledge of the area. He also tailored the trip for us specifically as I have a bad knee therefore struggle with declines. Shreeram put together the perfect trip for us!

After the hike he invited us to his home for some food and to meet his family. A very special invite. Thank you Shreeram for everything, we hope to be back one day!!

Accommodation choices were excellent. It’s clear they have done this a thousand times and sorted out the best options for their clients.

I took my family and they looked after us and nursed us up Tsetko Ri.

The first thought that comes to your mind when you opt for a local trekking company in Nepal is “Are they authentic?” Nepal Trek Hub’s Sriram is a gem. From the moment we landed in Kathmandu, he was there to help us. Well, that’s what promised too.

He understood our needs and accommodated us with ease. From

the duffel bag to the portable water filter which is quite pricey were all taken care of by him. Even the internet!

Everyday we had a plate of fruits which tasted exactly the same( this is not possible because we were moving from one place to another). I kept wondering how does Sriram find fresh fruits everyday? And they taste the same too? Only later I found out, he was carrying kilos of fruits in his backpack!!!! Oh! How grateful we were for the fruits! On some days the food didn’t suit out palette or stomach and the fruits were the only source of nutrition and energy.

He made sure each of ( we were a party of 3) had someone ( either him or our porters) were with us all the time.

I have to mention our porters Bijay and Ram. Wonderful people, awesome patience.

They made sure were reached the summit despite certain issues. The experience was a ‘ hug’ worthy!

We had to return back via chopper due to certain reasons, he was ready to help

and arranged for the chopper. Though we had booked our own hotel rooms, due to our early descent, we had to find new accommodations and that itself was a task. Once again Sriram was there to the rescue.

He was with us every step of the way and even after we had all come back home. We had missed a cap in the taxi on our way to the airport. Sriram made an effort to find it and courier is back to us. It was just a cap! Now that is the level of care and dedication this guy has towards his guests.

With Sriram and Nepal Trek Hub, I would climb the Himalayas any day without doubt or fear.

    How to go Langtang Trek

There are two ways to go to the place from where you can start the Langtang trek. The village called syabrubensi is the starting point, which is 113 km from Kathmandu. The road journey takes 6-7 hours, and there are two routes to reach the Langtang trek. One is a public bus, and the other is a private jeep. The private jeep is highly recommended for this short-period trek.

Crucial 5-Day Recommendations: To complete the Langtang Valley trek in 5 days, we highly recommend booking a private jeep. This saves 3–4 hours on the mountain roads, allowing you to start your hike early and reach Bamboo on Day 1 before dark. It is essential during the winter, as it gets dark earlier.
